A late surge wasn’t enough to save Tottenham Hotspur as they fell 2-1 at home to Nottingham Forest on Monday night.
The match barely reached five minutes before Elliot Anderson gave Forest the lead in fortunate circumstances. A ricochet off the ball found Anderson, whose spinning shot was deflected past Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Tottenham caught a break when Chris Wood’s header was ruled out for an offside position, with the striker’s right ear deemed to be offside. However, the Kiwi made no mistake in the 17th minute, nodding in a trademark header for his 19th Premier League goal of the season.

Spurs created several chances throughout the game, with their performance more positive than the scoreline suggests. But despite having 20 shots in total, they struggled to be as clinical as Forest, who scored from two of their first three attempts. Richarlison’s header in the 87th minute gave Spurs a glimmer of hope, but it was too little, too late.
This defeat, Tottenham’s fifth in their last seven league matches, leaves them in 16th place—just one point above the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Forest’s victory propels them back into the top three in the Premier League.
