The Premier League has confirmed that the summer transfer window will open earlier than usual to accommodate the FIFA Club World Cup.
Typically starting in mid-June, the transfer window will instead open between Sunday, June 1, and Tuesday, June 10, ahead of the Club World Cup, which kicks off around the same time. FIFA proposed this earlier window to help clubs adjust their squads for the tournament.
In a statement, the Premier League confirmed that the window would open for all clubs, not just those involved in the Club World Cup. However, due to FIFA regulations that limit the window to 12 weeks, there will be a brief closure before the window reopens on Monday, June 16.

The window will then continue as normal, closing on Monday, September 1.
This early opening gives clubs the opportunity to begin their recruitment early, and may even lead to some players moving before the end of their contracts. For example, Real Madrid could strike a deal with Liverpool to sign right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold for the Club World Cup, which starts just over two weeks before he would be available on a free transfer at the end of his contract.
Chelsea and Manchester City will be the two Premier League clubs participating in this summer’s Club World Cup, with the potential to earn up to $125.8m (£97.1m) if they win the tournament.
