Well-known Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode, better known as Toyo Baby from the popular television show Jenifa’s Diary, has voiced her opposition to polygamy and stated unequivocally that she would never permit her husband to take a second wife.
In an interview with Oyinmomo TV, the actress explained how her upbringing in a polygamous home influenced her opinions on marriage.
Olayode explained that being raised in such a family exposed her to the many challenges and conflicts associated with polygamy.
These experiences, she said, left a lasting impression on her, ultimately influencing her decision to reject the idea of sharing her husband with another woman.
She emphasized that she had witnessed firsthand the emotional and psychological toll polygamy can take on a family, including rivalry, misunderstandings, and a lack of unity among family members.

The actress, who has become a strong advocate for monogamous relationships, noted that stability and peace in marriage are essential to her.
According to her, a marriage should be built on mutual respect, understanding, and undivided commitment between two partners.
She believes that allowing a second wife into a marriage introduces unnecessary complications, which she is unwilling to tolerate in her own home.
In her words: “My husband can’t marry a second wife. It’s not possible, and it’s never going to happen. The reason I don’t like polygamy is that I come from a polygamous home, and I know the problems and troubles attached to it. So I’m not interested, and I don’t want it. I usually reject married men who message me with romantic lines, claiming that if they had met me before their wives, they would have stuck with me instead.”
