PSV manager Peter Bosz has described his team’s 7-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League last 16 as a “terrible night” for his side.

The Eredivisie club are virtually out of the competition after the heavy loss in front of their home supporters.

Arsenal took the lead through Jurrien Timber, followed by Ethan Nwaneri making it 2-0. Mikel Merino added a third, before PSV got one back from the penalty spot. However, in the second half, Mikel Arteta’s men ran riot, with Martin Ødegaard scoring twice to seal a dominant victory.

“Terrible night for us,” Bosz said. “No chance. Maybe there were two moments in the game—our first chance after 15 minutes when we hit the bar and the second yellow card—that could have given us a chance to get back into the game.

“Football-wise, we had no chance. We weren’t at our best. Arsenal played fantastic football, and we had no answer tonight.

“We had a plan, we analysed them, and we thought we could hurt them in certain areas. But if you look at how we defended, it was really poor. You can’t be successful if you play like that,” Bosz admitted to reporters.
