Manchester United will be without one of their top academy talents for the rest of their Europa League campaign.

Ruben Amorim’s side will head to the Basque Country this week to face Real Sociedad in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash.

After their FA Cup exit to Fulham on Sunday, United will be aiming for a strong rebound when they face Sociedad on Thursday.

However, they will be missing Chido Obi, as the young forward was not included in their updated squad list for the UEFA competition.

The 17-year-old, who impressed after coming on for Rasmus Hojlund on Sunday, was not registered in the original squad submitted by United for the Europa League back in September.

He also missed out when the squad was revised last month, as Amorim opted to include January signings Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven instead.

Obi made his United debut on February 16 against Spurs, but despite his rise, he will not be part of United’s Europa League campaign moving forward.

Under UEFA regulations, only club-trained players born on or after January 1, 2003, who have been with the club for at least two uninterrupted years, can be included in the B-List for selection.
