Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has offered a positive update on Erling Haaland’s knee injury, suggesting that the star striker could return “soon” and may feature in Wednesday’s match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Haaland has missed City’s last two games, including the crushing 2-0 loss to Liverpool, where he was absent from the squad. The Norwegian forward injured his knee during a rare victory against Newcastle United on February 15, landing awkwardly.
Guardiola revealed that the injury is “not dangerous” and reassured fans, saying that all tests showed it was not serious, although Haaland didn’t feel fully ready to play. “I have the feeling it will be soon,” Guardiola added after Haaland made some strong movements in training but opted not to risk himself. “Hopefully, he can help us in the next games.”

City will face Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday, a ground where Guardiola has struggled, losing six of his eight visits. When asked about Haaland’s potential involvement in that game, Guardiola responded, “Hopefully.”
He acknowledged the team’s struggles without Haaland, stating, “Obviously, we will miss him. Over the last nine years, we’ve played a lot of games without key players and survived, but this season, with many injuries, we haven’t.”
Despite missing Haaland in recent games, Manchester City has managed to win over 73% of the matches he has missed during his two-and-a-half seasons at the club. However, without him, City found it tough to break down Real Madrid in their last outing. Spurs, on the other hand, are currently on a three-match winning streak in the Premier League, posing a strong challenge for City in their upcoming clash.
