Frenkie de Jong is reportedly set to end the uncertainty surrounding his future at Barcelona by agreeing to a contract extension.
With his current deal entering its final 12 months, De Jong had long been linked with an exit from Camp Nou as part of Barcelona’s ongoing efforts to reduce costs and fund a summer transfer spree. Earlier this season, Barcelona withdrew their contract offer to De Jong after he failed to respond, seemingly signaling an impending departure. However, manager Hansi Flick is said to have persuaded the club to reassess their position.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, De Jong is now ready to reverse his stance and sign a new contract.

The Dutch midfielder is reportedly pleased with his role under Flick, who has reinstated him to the starting lineup in recent weeks after his injury recovery, and De Jong can see a long and successful future under the German manager at Barcelona.
Discussions over a new contract are not expected to take place in the immediate future, though. De Jong and his representatives reportedly prefer to wait a few months to see how his form develops further, and Barcelona are content to wait until the end of the season, as originally planned.
Should De Jong agree to an extension, he will join a growing list of first-team players committing their futures to the club. Recent contract renewals include centre-backs Pau Cubarsi and Ronald Araujo, whose deals run until 2029 and 2031 respectively, along with midfielders Pedri and Gavi.
Barcelona is also keen to secure a long-term extension for defender Jules Kounde, preventing any possibility of the Frenchman moving to the Premier League, with Chelsea continuing to show interest. The Blues have admired Kounde for several years, dating back to his time at Sevilla, and have previously been linked with a €100m (£83.3m) bid.
