According to reports, Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr and Cristiano Ronaldo have agreed to extend the Portuguese star’s contract for another year.

Ronaldo originally signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Al Nassr in January 2023 after leaving Manchester United. The 40-year-old forward, who celebrated his birthday in February, was set to become a free agent in the summer but has made it clear that he has no plans to retire yet.

Al Nassr is set to benefit from Ronaldo’s impressive longevity for at least another season, with AFP reporting that a verbal agreement has been reached for a one-year extension. However, a source within the club cautioned that the deal “has not been signed yet” and that an official announcement would come in the next few days.

Despite his age, Ronaldo continues to shine on the field. He has started 18 of Al Nassr’s 19 league games this season, scoring 16 goals, which currently leads the division.

Recently, there have been signs that the Saudi Pro League is shifting its focus towards younger talent, with Al Nassr making a high-profile signing of 21-year-old striker Jhon Duran.

While rumors have linked Ronaldo to moves to Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, and Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, he has consistently expressed his admiration for Al Nassr, a club that has funded his reported £177 million annual salary for the past two years.

As Ronaldo said in early 2025, “For me, the most important thing is to be professional, to push hard, respect the club, respect your contract.” That contract may now extend through June 2026.
