A comment made by well-known Fuji artist King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known by his stage as K1 De Ultimate, at his late mother’s Fidau prayer has put him in the middle of controversy.
Many people considered K1 De Ultimate’s remarks regarding Alfas insulting, especially since he had just lost his mother, Alhaja Halimah Anifowoshe, at the age of 105.
In a clip showing the Fuji music icon K1 De Ultimate in discussion with a man while preparing for his late mother’s 8-day Fidau prayer, the artist was heard using the phrase “Ganusi” in reference to some Islamic clerics (Alfas).

This phrase immediately sparked debates online, as many interpreted it to mean that K1 was implying that some Alfas attend such events primarily for the food served, labeling them as food mongers.
In his words, “Alfas will not go to my father’s house for the party, It’s my house they will Ganusi. Then we prayed in my house before going back to my father’s house for the main party.”
The Fidau prayer, a significant Islamic ritual observed in honor of the deceased, was held on Friday, January 24th and it attracted A-list celebrities and well-recognized clerics, including Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa, who held a sermon at the event.
During the sermon, Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa addressed K1’s statement, offering corrections and criticisms during the event. He, however, politely asked K1 to tender apology to the Alfas over his statement.
However, K1 De Ultimate has stood his ground, refusing to issue an apology despite the backlash. He, then, ordered Sheikh Onikijipa to continue with his late mother’s fidau prayer.
