Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has offered his analysis of his team’s 2-2 draw with Brentford in their latest Premier League clash.

City appeared to be in control after Phil Foden’s double gave them a commanding lead, but late goals from Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard saw Brentford snatch a dramatic point. Guardiola pointed to defensive lapses and missed opportunities as key factors in the result.

“We had the game in our hands, but we didn’t manage key moments well,” Guardiola admitted. “Brentford are a very physical and resilient side, and they punished us when we failed to stay focused.”

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, Guardiola acknowledged that his team’s inability to capitalize on opportunities ultimately cost them. “We needed to be more clinical in the final third. Against a team like Brentford, if you don’t take your chances, they will come back at you,” he added.

The result marked a rare lapse for City, leaving them to reflect on how to tighten their defense and maintain consistency as the Premier League title race continues.
