Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua has set his sights on defeating Tyson Fury in 2025 to become a three-time world heavyweight champion.

Joshua made this statement after visiting President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Wednesday, following a recent visit to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun. The boxer was in Nigeria for the festive season.

When asked about his chances of beating Fury, Joshua replied, “We’ll see, let’s get in the ring. Only God knows, but for me, we’ll see in the future.” He expressed his hunger for success and his determination to work harder to achieve his goal.

“Time is of the essence, time is limited. So, I just want to put in more work,” Joshua added. “In 2024, when I look back, I believe I could have done more, and I have another chance in 2025 to do more. I’m going to make sure I take every opportunity that comes my way.”

Joshua emphasized that his pursuit of a third world heavyweight title is far from over. Reflecting on his September 2024 match against Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium, he admitted, “I should have won that fight, but I didn’t.”

He acknowledged the ups and downs of his career, stating, “To some people, it is always up. My life is up and down, so I got used to the turbulent times and keep riding the wave.” He also expressed his unwavering commitment to continue pushing forward until he reaches his goal.

Joshua spoke positively about his visit to President Tinubu, saying he felt good energy during the meeting.
