Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has delivered a heartfelt message to fans, admitting that “apologising is not enough” after a difficult end to 2024 for the club.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough spell in the latter months of the year, contributing ten goals and assists across November and December. Despite his individual progress, United’s team struggles overshadowed his performances. Following a lackluster performance in a home loss to Newcastle United, Amad took to X (formerly Twitter) on New Year’s Eve to address his 600,000 followers.
“A very difficult year, apologising is not enough,” he wrote. “But you have supported us and continued to do so throughout all this time…thank you.”
Amorim is attempting to overhaul the team’s tactics and implement new methods, but the relentless schedule of nearly three games per week has left little time for proper training and adaptation.
The challenges ahead are daunting, as United next face a trip to league leaders Liverpool on Sunday. Their earlier meeting this season ended in a humbling 3-0 loss, and memories of the 7-0 defeat at Anfield just two years ago still linger.
